Allandale Tarn in Spring

Allandale Tarn Fishery is a " Troutmaster Water" and A member of the Association of Scottish Stillwater Fisheries (ASSF).

Allandale Tarn issues a warm welcome to all anglers and angling clubs. Large numbers of natural insects and flies make Allandale a superb venue for dry fly and nymph fishing.

Stocked daily with quality Rainbows, Blue,and Brown Trout. Sizes from 1.8lb to 18lb+.

Rod hire, tackle and snacks available in our fishing lodge.

We also stock a varied range of fly tying materials including UV white marabou and Iona's cold water processed CDC is now available, again in fluorescent shades.

Fly Fishing (Fish + catch and release)

Day (9am - 4.30pm)
Any 4 hours
Evening Sessions (from 4.30pm - dusk only)
Parent and child (under 13) ~up to 7& 1/2 hours
Parent and 2 children (under 13) ~ up to 7 & 1/2 hours

Junior or senior (Mon~Fri) ~ Any 7& 1/2 hours

Sporting Permits ~ Fly only ~

(Barbless hooks only on catch & release)

Any 4 hours

Evening session (4:30~ dusk)

Annual Membership

Annual membership to the Tarn is available for only £8 for any 12 months from date of purchase. This gives anglers 50p off every permit, 1/2 dozen of The Tarns favorite flies & a Free 7&1/2 hour permit after every 10 purchased. (FLY~either 2+C/R or C/R only)or (Bait~2 Fish).

Best Flies and tactics

History

Allandale used to be called the Victoria Pool, used to refill passing steam trains and is over 100 years old. The biology has had this long to develop and is the secret to the incredible feeding in the Tarn.
